Sexual Health Resources:

HIV & STI Screening:

Routine HIV & sexually transmitted infection testing is recommended for anyone who is sexually active. In addition to a primary care physician, there are additional testing site alternatives available.

The MALE Center: (HIV screening only)
Free, confidential rapid HIV counseling and testing services to gay and bisexual men outside of traditional medical settings. The MALE Center offers access to rapid testing during non-traditional business hours (evenings and weekends). Typical testing availability is Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday noon - 8pm, Fridays 11am - 4pm & once Saturday a month.

Fenway Health: (HIV screening at no cost. STI screening would require primary care)
Fenway Health provides HIV antibody testing that is completely confidential with pre- and post-test counseling to help you deal with the issues that surround your decision to test and the impact of knowing your HIV status.

Hepatitis A & B vaccinations:
Hepatitis A & B vaccinations are recommended since both can be transmissed through sexual contact.
These vaccinations are available through your primary care doctor or for free at Fenway Health (617-927-6110).

 

PEP (Post Exposure Prophylaxis):
PEP is a combination of anti HIV medications that may prevent HIV from taking hold in your body. There is a 72 hour window to start PEP for it's effectiveness and would be accessible through your primary care physician or an emergency room. Health insurance should cover PEP or you may choose to pay out of pocket for the one month course of medication.

Additionally, Fenway Health is conducting a study on PEP and may be able to provide PEP at no cost for those enrolled in the study. The PEP study contact at Fenway Health can be reached at: (617) 927-6440.

Resources for HIV Positive Individuals:

TheBody.com is a vast HIV/AIDS resource with articles, education materials, videos, blogs, and "ask the expert" section, etc.

The Boston Living Center is New England's largest community and resource center for people living with HIV/AIDS. Services include meals, meetings, holistic health services and more.

AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts has a twenty-year history of serving people living with HIV and AIDS in the state of Massachusetts. AAC Client Services provides direct services to people living with HIV in Massachusetts.

Cambridge Cares about AIDS CCA's Client Services Department programs provide services to people living with HIV/AIDS. These programs include Case Management, Peer Support Services, and Housing Services.

Gay Men's Domestic Violence Project:
The Gay Men's Domestic Violence Project supports victims and survivors through education, advocacy and direct services. GMDVP serves men in relationships with men, regardless of how they identify, and stand ready to assist in navigating through abusive relationships.

Violence Recovery Program (VRP) at Fenway Health:
The VRP provides counseling, support groups, advocacy, and referral services to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) victims of bias crime, domestic violence, sexual assault and police misconduct.
